Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc. EBHI) wants a judge in U.S. bankruptcuy court in Delaware to set a bid deadlinee of July 14 and a July 16 date to auctionb offthe retailer’s assets. But , headquartered in Santa Calif., and three other landlorde want more time to evaluate anyproposed deal. “The landlordxs did not create debtors’ financiap maladies, and should not bear the consequencesz of this bankruptcy through loss of theirfcontractual rights,” Macerich and the other landlords said in a courtg filing Thursday. Eddie Bauer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptct protectionJune 17.
The New York private equity firm has made an offere to buyEddie Bauer’e assets for $202 million, subject to an auctiomn and bankruptcy court approval. CCMP has said it has agreec to keep most ofEddir Bauer’s 371 stores if it were the winninfg bidder. But the company said it woulds close an undisclosed number ofunderperforming stores.
