The $6 million center was designedf for studying cropping systems comprisedof genetics, agronomicf practices and biotech traits including water-use efficiencty technologies such as drought-tolerant cropping systems. The centet will help Monsanto advance research to helpimprovw farmers’ productivity in the Western Greay Plains. More than 80 cropping and irrigation demonstrations are featuredr atthe 155-acre farm and learning The center will be hardwired to eventuallgy conduct virtual tours of robotics and seed analyticzs facilities in remote locations such as Monsanto’s breedintg facility in Ankeny, Iowa, or the company’se Chesterfield, Mo., research facility.
Gothenburg Learning Center Lead Chandler Mazou r said Monsanto selected the site because of its locatiom in the transition zone from drylancd acres to irrigated acres on the western High Plains and that Monsanto needx that diversity to determine how to use futured technologies in adding valueto crops.
