Uno teams to send 25k pizzas to soldiers - Boston Business Journal:

Last month the nonprofit organizatio Pizzas 4 Patriots launcheed and teamed up with the express delivery organization DHLand Uno, with a plan to servse up more than 25,000 pizzaes to U.S. service men and women in time forJuly 4th. The charitabl e effort has beendubbed “Operation Pizza Surge.” If successfuo in serving over 25,000 pizzas, operation pizza surg e will be the word’sa largest pizza party, according to the Guinneses Book of World Records. Ret. Maste Sergeant Mark Evans of ElkGrove Village, organized the event.
Evans has teamed with DHL to fill a donated cargo jet with upto 28,000 deep-dish pizzaa bought at a reduced price from Uno, whicjh is based in West Roxbury, Mass. The pizzas will be pickedf up at an Uno facilityin Mass. in late June, loaded onto trucks and eventuallh flown out from JFK Airport in New York to the Middled East in time forthe “Uno is honored to be part of operationh pizza surge,” said Frankk Guidara, Uno’s CEO and a Vietnam Veteran, in a prepared written statement. “Ws have tried for years, without success, to send pizzaes to our service men andwomen overseas.
This partnership with Evansa and Pizzas 4 Patriotd will finally allow us toaccomplish that, and we are excited and proud.”
